CHELSEA HOTEL, TORONTO'S DESHA SAMPSON RECEIVES OHI RECOGNITION
Ontario Hostelry Institute's Top 30 Under 30

13 March 2014

TORONTO – Desha Sampson, Marketing and E-Business Manager has been chosen by the Ontario Hostelry Institute for the Top 30 Under 30 – an annual high profile recognition program that celebrates the hospitality and foodservice industry's top 30 young professionals in all sectors who make a difference.

The Chelsea Hotel, Toronto's Director of Marketing, Ken Gruber, stated that, "Whether Desha is dealing with agencies, suppliers, partners or colleagues, her work is lauded by all. She has both the talent to help create inspiring advertising and collateral pieces, as well as the ability to keep projects on time and within budget. This past year was a particularly challenging one for the hotel, as we re-branded after 38 years, from the Delta Chelsea to the Chelsea Hotel and Desha was there every step of the way, to ensure that all hotel materials were switched over and that a new multi-media marketing campaign was created to spread the word. As a result, the Chelsea Hotel – and our Marketing Department - received The Langham Hospitality Group's 2013 Award of Excellence for Marketing Communications."

The Top 30 Under 30 Winners were celebrated and acknowledged at a special reception and were recognized with a full page advertisement in Kostuch Media's Foodservice and Hospitality Magazine and in the Globe and Mail – March 11th.

About Ontario Hostelry Institute
Established in 1977 by the leadership of the hospitality-tourism industry in Canada, the Institute has sought to raise the standards of professional post-secondary hospitality programs in our colleges and universities while serving as the advocate for the industry in matters relating to professional culinary, hospitality and tourism education, training and apprenticeship. The institute has pro-actively provided the much-needed financial assistance to the best and the brightest college and university students who are seeking life-long careers in this industry. Thanks to past support, we have our own reason for celebration, over the past 17 years, we have raised $1.53 million for the development of people within our industry. Revenue from the annual gala Gold Awards Dinner, and generous support from the corporate sector of our industry, continues to make this possible and to expand this activity. http://www.theohi.ca/
